Because I occasionally get asked, here is the official history of “Classic Dom”.

In August 2019, when the new Boris Johnson government was picking fights left, right and centre in an effort to force Brexit through, Downing Street officials would explain that each piece of chaos was actually part of a brilliant plan to wind up MPs or judges or the media.

This took off, partly thanks to the Guardian’s John Crace, but largely thanks to the self-promotional efforts of Cummings himself. Pleasingly, it really annoyed Number 10.

I find myself writing about Cummings quite a lot, because his lack of self-awareness makes him hilarious.
